Pharmacy context
The pharmacy is in a suburb of Wakefield. It has an NHS distance-selling contract to dispense NHS prescriptions and deliver them to patients. The pharmacy supplies multi-compartment compliance packs to help several patients take their medicines. The pharmacy’s website www.pharmacy-express.co.uk provides patients with details of the services offered and how to contact the pharmacy team. The pharmacy offers additional NHS services including the NHS seasonal flu vaccination service. It also provides a private weight loss service.
This was a reinspection following an inspection in January 2025 where the pharmacy did not meet Standards 1.1 and 1.6. This reinspection focused on those Standards which had previously not been met. The pharmacy has introduced written procedures for the electronic patient medication record system which uses bar code scanning technology and for the private weight loss service. This helps to ensure team members are following the correct procedures. The pharmacy has documented the risks which it has identified with providing its private weight loss service, which has allowed team members to review and monitor the actions taken to mitigate these risks. The pharmacy maintains legally compliant records of the Responsible Pharmacist on duty.
