Pharmacy context

This is a community pharmacy on a parade of shops in a largely residential area of Westcliff-on-Sea. It provides NHS services such as the New Medicine Service, the Pharmacy First service and the Hypertension Case Finding service. It supplies medicines in multi-compartment compliance packs to people who need this support. And it delivers medicines to some people’s homes. It also provides supervised administration of certain medicines. This was a desktop inspection following an inspection in August 2025 where the pharmacy did not meet Standards 2.2 and 3.2. This reinspection focused on those Standards which had previously not been met. Since the last inspection, the pharmacy has registered its untrained team member onto an accredited training course. And it has cleared the clutter from the consultation room so it was now a suitable environment to provide services.

What do the inspection outcomes mean?

After an inspection each pharmacy receives one overall outcome. This will be either Standards met or Standards not all met

Met The pharmacy has met all the standards for registered pharmacies
Not all met The pharmacy has not met one or more of the standards for registered pharmacies

What do the summary findings for each principle mean?

The standards for registered pharmacies are made up of five principles. The pharmacy will also receive one of four possible findings for each of these principles. These are:

Excellent practice The pharmacy delivers an innovative service and benefits the whole community and performs well against the standards
Good practice The pharmacy delivers positive outcomes for patients and performs well against most of the standards
Standards met The pharmacy meets all the standards
Standards not all met The pharmacy has not met one or more standards
