Pharmacy context

This extended hours pharmacy is located on a busy main road, opposite a health centre in Tunstall, Stoke-On-Trent. Its main activity is dispensing prescriptions, and it offers some services such as the supervised consumption of medicines and the New Medicine Service. A medicine delivery service is available, and the pharmacy supplies some people with medicines in multi-compartment compliance to help them take their medicines.

This was a reinspection following an inspection in June 2024 where the pharmacy did not meet Standards 1.2 and 4.3. This reinspection focused on those Standards which had previously not been met. The pharmacy had taken action to correct the failed standards. This included the introduction of a near miss log and a review of mistakes which was then discussed with its team members. And it had implemented a new method to monitor its fridge temperatures to help make sure cold chain medicines were stored appropriately so that they remain safe to supply.
