Inspection outcome: Standards met
Last inspection: 06/01/2025
Pharmacy context
This pharmacy is located in a residential area in Bury and provides its services at a distance. The pharmacy dispenses NHS prescriptions which are delivered to people. It offers the New Medicine Service (NMS) and the NHS Pharmacy First Service. The pharmacy supplies medicines in multi-compartment compliance packs for some people including those who reside in care homes to help them take their medicines at the right time.
This was a reinspection of the pharmacy following an inspection in August 2024 where the pharmacy was found to be not meeting standards 1.6, 2.2, 3.1 and 4.3 but was meeting the other standards. This reinspection focused on those standards which had previously not been met. Following the last inspection, the pharmacy had improved on their record keeping. The pharmacy previously had some team members who were working in the dispensary and were not registered on accredited training courses. They had since been enrolled on the courses. The pharmacy premises had also been cleaned and organised. The pharmacy previously did not have a robust process to check for expired medicines or to deal with patient‐returned medicines. And it was not able to show that it always stored medicines which require refrigeration appropriately. Since the last inspection the pharmacy had introduced a new process for completing expiry date checks of medicines and had a clearly labelled designated area where patient returned medicines were stored. Fridge temperatures were being checked and recorded on a daily basis.
