Waterloo Pharmacy (9012611) - Improvement action plan

Standard not met Reason Action being taken by the Pharmacy By when Notification By Pharmacy Improvements Made
4.3

The pharmacy does not effectively manage or store some of its medicines safely. It doesn’t store all its medicines in the original packaging, some are stored without any information about their batch number and expiry. And some medicines are stored in such a way that their name, batch number or expiry date are not available. This increases the risks of medicines being provided that are not correct or safe to use.

Any split boxes on the shelf need to be checked to ensure that all names, batch numbers and expiry dates are written on. Any tablets missing this information will be discarded. We will also be limiting the number of split boxes we have. If there are any white carton boxes on the shelf, then all staff will be writing on the batch and expiry date on the front of the box.
