Medicall (9012545) - Improvement action plan

Standard not met Reason Action being taken by the Pharmacy By when Notification By Pharmacy Improvements Made
1.5

The pharmacy cannot demonstrate that it had appropriate indemnity insurance in place from the day it opened until the day of the inspection. So, people using the pharmacy’s services might not have been adequately covered during this period.

Appropriate indemnity insurance has been
purchased from the same insurer the same
day the fault was identified. Evidence has
been provided to the relevant inspector. To
ensure a similar issue is not repeated the
pharmacy aims to put in place a checklist to
ensure any legal and clinical requirements for
any services, private or NHS, are completed
before the service goes live

4.2

The pharmacy does not have robust audit trails for its home delivery service. This is not in line with its written procedures and may make it harder for the team to deal with any queries or problems that arise.

Prescriptions will now be identified on a sheet
of all deliveries along with the date they are
to be delivered. Any prescriptions received by
a patient representative will have both name
and signature added onto the sheet and if
needed will be added to the patient
medication record to maintain a further audit
trail.
For CD prescriptions a separate signature
sheet will also be provided to maintain a
separate audit trail
