The pharmacy doesn’t do enough to make sure it keeps records in the way the law requires it to do so.
These records include its controlled drug register, emergency supply records, private prescription records and its responsible pharmacist log.

Fridge Temperature Checks:
• An alarm has been set on the pharmacy clock to remind staff to check and record fridge temperatures at set intervals daily.
• Any deviations from the required temperature range will be escalated immediately.

Controlled Drug (CD) Register Updates:
• CD entries are now updated promptly and verified by a second team member to ensure accuracy.
• A weekly audit of CD records has been implemented to identify and correct any discrepancies.

Balance Checks Assigned to Dispenser:
• A qualified dispenser has been assigned to perform regular balance checks of controlled drugs.
• These checks will be documented, and any discrepancies will be investigated and rectified promptly.

Responsible Pharmacist (RP) Log Compliance:
• The RP log is reviewed at the start and end of each shift to ensure entries are accurate and complete.
• A weekly audit is conducted to verify compliance with RP regulations.

Emergency Supply and Private Prescription Records:
• Emergency supply records and private prescriptions are logged under the correct prescriber on the PMR immediately after dispensing.
• A monthly audit will be conducted to ensure all records are complete and meet regulatory requirements.

Weekly Date-Check Reminders:
• An alarm reminder has been set for weekly date checks of medicines to ensure stock is in date.
• A designated dispenser is responsible for performing and documenting these checks.

Recruitment of a Qualified Dispenser:
• A qualified dispenser has been recruited to support record-keeping and ensure compliance with legal and professional requirements.
