Care Pharmacy (9012247) - Improvement action plan

Standard not met Reason Action being taken by the Pharmacy By when Notification By Pharmacy Improvements Made
1.1

The pharmacy does not always consider the risks when making changes to its working practices. The pharmacy had introduced new technology to dispense multi-compartment compliance packs for other branches in the company. But it had not adequately defined and implemented its new working arrangements specific to this pharmacy to keep dispensing safe.

The incorrect SOPs were shown to the Inspector. The Pharmacy Owner has provided the correct SOPs from November 2024 defining the roles and responsibilities for the new multi-compartment compliance technology. These SOPs were read by the team prior and were re-read again to ensure they followed due process.

2.2

The pharmacy does not always train team members within the necessary timescales to ensure they have the right qualifications and skills for their roles and the services they provide. And it does not always have oversight of team members undergoing qualification training.

All staff have been enrolled on accredited courses. The Pharmacist Manager now has a weekly plan to ensure team members follow a timeous approach to completing their courses.
