We Prescribe (9012132) - Improvement action plan

The pharmacy’s prescribing service does not independently verify the details that a person has provided, such as their current weight, before it issues a prescription for weight-loss medication which increases the risk of medicines being supplied to people when they are not suitable for them.

In order to further comply with prescribing standards relating to weight loss we have enhanced the website to contain a patient portal. The patient portal will be specific to each patients login details where they can see all prescribed treatment and messages between themselves and the pharmacy.

The portal will contain a section to upload an image of the patient (time and date stamped) to allow the PIP to confirm that weight loss treatment is appropriate. This will also allow the patient to follow their weight loss journey through their images.

We will also incorporate into our T&Cs and within the online questionnaire for the weight loss category on our website that we require images before any treatment is dispatched once approved by the PIP.
