Vantage Chemist (9012091) - Improvement action plan

Standard not met Reason Action being taken by the Pharmacy By when Notification By Pharmacy Improvements Made
1.1

The pharmacy is not identifying and managing some risks associated with its services. At the point of inspection, the team could not locate the pharmacy's standard operating procedures (SOPs). It is therefore not possible to verify that the pharmacy has suitable processes in place to underpin its services and provide the team with guidance on internal tasks.

Latest SOPs have been introduced and staff training has been provided.
A labelled SOP folder is kept in the pharmacy accessible to all staff when needed.

Staff cannot show that they have been storing medicines requiring refrigeration at the appropriate temperatures. This compromises the safe supply of medicines and medical devices.

New fridge thermometers have been put in the fridges and fridges logs are now maintained. Staff are regularly checking and logging the temperature everyday.
Staff are aware of the ideal fridge temperature for storing medicines which is 2-8 degree Celsius

The CD cabinet is not secured fully in line with legal requirements. This compromises the security of these medicines.

CD cabinet is now secured with two anchor bolts and CD keys are now kept secured at night sealed and signed by the responsible pharmacist.
We have also introduced a CD log to be signed and dated for whoever opens the CD cabinet during the day.
