Certified Health Ltd (9011877) - Improvement action plan

Standard not met Reason Action being taken by the Pharmacy By when Notification By Pharmacy Improvements Made
1.1

The pharmacy does not properly identify and manage all the risks with its services, including for supplies of its unlicensed treatments. It does not have written procedures, policies and risk assessments for all its activities. And it doesn't have adequate clinical governance arrangements to manage safe prescribing and supply of its medicines.

The pharmacy is taking immediate action to address identified risks. We will conduct a comprehensive risk assessment covering all services, review our policies and procedures, and ensure all identified gaps are addressed to meet the required standards. These measures will help mitigate all risks and strengthen clinical governance arrangements to ensure the safe prescribing and supply of medicines.

1.2

The pharmacy does not meaningfully audit and monitor the quality and safety of its services, including auditing prescribing against its policies. And it does not audit and monitor the supplies it makes against its policies.

The pharmacy will implement robust auditing and monitoring processes to ensure the quality and safety of its services. This includes outsourcing regular audits of prescribing practices and supply activities to an independent organization, ensuring they are assessed against established policies. These measures will enable us to identify and address any deviations, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement in service delivery

3.1

Some parts of the pharmacy’s website appear transactional in nature, suggesting to people they can buy treatments by adding to their cart. And it is not always clear they are entering into a consultation process with the prescriber. The website makes unsubstantiated medicinal claims about unlicensed medicines.

Revise the website in due course to ensure it clearly communicates that a consultation process with a prescriber is required for treatments, avoiding any transactional appearance.
Remove any unsubstantiated medicinal claims about unlicensed medicines and ensure all information complies with regulatory and professional standards.
We are currently working with our IT team to ensure standard 3.1 is met.

4.2

The pharmacy does not have adequate safeguards to ensure the safe and effective delivery of its services. It does not always have sufficient information or use the information it has to ensure people receive medicines suitable for them to use.

We have already centralised the recording of all consultations and interventions as part of the prescribing process to ensure thorough and accurate documentation of patient information, supporting safe and effective prescribing practices.
We have enhanced the use of patient data to ensure the appropriate selection and delivery of medicines.
We have also integrated safeguards into the website to identify and prevent false or misleading information, minimising the risk of unsafe or ineffective treatment.

4.3

The pharmacy does not label its dispensed medicines with enough information to comply with current law.

We have taken note of the guidance provided by Chris Barnes (inspector) and made necessary changes to ensure compliance with the Human Medicines Regulations 2012.
For the time being, we now apply stickering on the outer packaging to ensure compliance. Going forward, we will develop bespoke labels for our medications and ensure the stickering is applied to the primary container.
