This includes insufficient checks during the dispensing process to make sure prescribers follow the pharmacy’s prescribing guidelines. And it does not have robust processes to support people whose treatment requires ongoing monitoring to ensure treatment is suitable for them. This includes for weight loss and asthma. |
All the prescribers and RP to be provided with a copy of the prescribing guidelines. The Regular RPs to be brought up to speed on the guidelines and trained to question any prescribing decision that falls out of scope of the prescribing guidelines and bring to the attention of the prescribers. If the RP is still not satisfied then any concerns can be brought to the attention of the SI before a prescription is dispensed. The Pharmacy holds a prescriber’s formulary for each prescriber stating the areas of competence. Patients must agree to forced consent to inform GP of weight loss treatment.
