Sai Pharmacy (9011696) - Improvement action plan

Standard not met Reason Action being taken by the Pharmacy By when Notification By Pharmacy Improvements Made
4.3

The pharmacy does not store all its medicines properly or securely. And it cannot sufficiently demonstrate that it keeps its medicines requiring cold storage at the right temperatures.

We have bought and securely fitted a second CD cabinet to ensure that all CD medication is kept under correct and legal storage conditions.

We have ensured that maximum and minimum temperatures on all fridges in the pharmacy have been reset correctly and all dispensing staff have been instructed on what to do if the fridge temperature falls outside this range. We are now ensuring that the fridge temperatures are being accurately recorded daily. We have been through the fridge manuals are aware of what different alarms refer to and what to do should they go off.

We have ensured that All P meds and POM are Not kept on the shop floor area by ensuring that the staff are Regularly Checking the shop area if this has happened in error. (Indeed, we will not allow any POM medicines to be taken /stored outside the dispensary, except when on prescription to be given to the patient.) We, have segregated the shop display area where GSL medicines and OTC, P medicines are kept behind the counter. Furthermore, we have placed a barrier ( which is kept closed) that prevents any customer walking into the area where P medicines are on display, (as per the photo attached) hence the area on the Side of the counter will Not be accessible to Patients or to customers, and will only be accessible to staff. We have also updated out SOP for this.
