2.2

The pharmacy lacks a plan for monitoring and reviewing trainee team member's development and progress. The pharmacy does not always clarify to trainees who shall supervise them, and appropriate team members they could shadow or seek advice from.

The following tasks shall be completed when a new ream member joins the pharmacy:
Core written procedures for the RP regulations, safe dispensing and CDs read and signed.
Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults training.
Patient confidentiality agreement signed.
Identify the training requirements and the appropriate training resource in the technical knowledge and skills required to perform their role.
Enrol on an accredited qualification course for their role within three months of starting employment.
Provide a learning contract and set a course completion time limit.
PMR system training.
A checklist for all the above tasks shall be signed by the employee and line manager.

The following points will be used to assess a new team member's training needs:
The skills and experience relevant to their role that the team member possesses.
Action plan to address the identified training needs. This shall include dates that each action should be completed by.

Trainee team members will have a regular review with their named learning supervisor:
To reflect on their performance, knowledge and skills.
To identify learning and development needs
To discuss how to support them in meeting the identified training needs and develop in their role.
Trainee dispensers and medicine counter assistants shall have their progress on their accredited qualification course reviewed each month to make sure they shall complete the qualification on time, and to discuss how to support their progress towards qualification.
