Standard not met Reason Action being taken by the Pharmacy By when Notification By Pharmacy Improvements Made
3.1

Some of the staff only areas of the pharmacy are excessively cluttered. This creates a risk of team members making mistakes and presents trip hazards.

Areas of the pharmacy are to be cleaned to reduce risk of trip hazard.

Totes from wholesaler containing stock are to be checked off in good time to free up space.

The area where patient returns are kept (safe away from public) is to be checked at the beginning of every month and as part of action plan the responsible body that is contracted to collect the medication should be called out to remove excess waste.

Infrequent visits from waste collection service once quarterly is the cause of this. However, the team will try and maintain a professional standard.

Inspection report highlighted that the
return medication was to be ‘processed’- the team will ensure that bags are tied up and knotted ready to be collected.
