● Refer to current SOPs.
● Ensure controlled drug record entries are made on the day or the following day at the latest.
● Carry out more frequent CD balance checks
● Record the receipt and destruction of patient returned CDs. Ensure they are clearly labelled and segregated from current stock.
● Ensure private prescriptions are entered correctly.
● All staff to receive training on entering private prescription records correctly

The pharmacy does not have adequate standard operating procedures for the services it provides.

● Review all current standard operating procedures.
● Identify SOPs requiring amendment/improvement.
● Review services provided by the pharmacy and create new SOPs where required.
● Refer to current SOPs.

The pharmacy’s stock medicines are poorly organised. It stores some medication outside its original container and these are not labelled adequately with batch numbers and expiry dates. It does not have adequate date checking procedures and medicines which have passed their expiry date are not always separated from current stock. The pharmacy does not properly restrict unauthorised access to some medicines.

● Check and update SOPs.
● New date checking matrix now displayed in dispensary.
● Reorganise and tidy dispensary shelves
● Medication to be stored in original container where possible, if not will be put in a container labelled with batch number and expiry date.
● Ensure consultation room is locked to the public at all times, always ensure patients are not left unattended in the consultation room
