Whitefield Pharmacy (9010332) - Improvement action plan

Standard not met Reason Action being taken by the Pharmacy By when Notification By Pharmacy Improvements Made
1.6

The pharmacy does not keep its controlled drug registers up to date and accurate. This creates a risk to patient safety.

All controlled drug registers have been balanced and are up to date with the balances now transferred onto an electronic cd register CDSmart.

All CD prescriptions and invoices to be placed in the marked CD basket on the checking bench as opposed to the dispensing bench.

All CD prescriptions and invoices entered onto the electronic CD register as soon as dispensed/received, if busy then by the end of the day.

CD invoices to be signed once entered onto the electronic CD register.

CD balance checks to be completed fortnightly as directed by the electronic CD register but also checked as dispensed where possible.

Before ordering CD items the stock in the CD cabinet must be checked or the electronic register referred to thus minimising CD stock holding and reducing risk of errors.

Patient returned CDs to be denatured by the end of the working day.

A new CD cabinet has been ordered to increase capacity.
