Castlegate Pharmacy (1119345) - Improvement action plan

The pharmacy does not store all the its medicines it uses securely or in accordance with legal requirements .

1. CD stock to be separated according to ownership by the two entities dispensary and pharmacy.
2.CD registers to be separated into correct entities reflecting stock buying, holding and provision. CD registers will be switched from paper to electronic to help facilitate this.
3. CD cabinet to be installed in pharmacy, with all controlled drugs to be kept under lock and key in CD cabinet. This will include schedule 2 drugs and schedule 3 drugs subject to safe custody. This will ensure compliance and safe storage of CD’s in accordance with legal requirements.
4. Dispensary stock will be quarantined as such so that only those patients under that entity may utilise that stock. If needing to transfer dispensary CD stock, a Home office CD licence application will be sought before any such activity takes place.
