Lime Pharmacy (1107406) - Improvement action plan

Standard not met Reason Action being taken by the Pharmacy By when Notification By Pharmacy Improvements Made
4.3

The pharmacy does not always record fridge temperatures for medicines requiring cold storage. There are no fridge temperature records for the last three months. So, the pharmacy cannot be sure that medicines requiring cold storage are being stored at the correct temperature.

• All staff have been reminded of the importance of safe storage of all medications and importance to adhere to the SOPs for Cold Chain Medicines. Staffs understanding of the reviewed SOPs has been reassessed to confirm understanding.
• Staff are now recording the Fridge temperatures for all Fridges at the premises daily during the opening hours of the Pharmacy to ensure all cold chain medicines are stored at the appropriate temperatures to maintain their integrity and always ensure safe storage.
• As an additional measure, a fridge temperature recording pop up prompt on the PMR has been reset which was available previously however might have been accidentally turned off. The prompt will pop up the fridge temperature recording window as soon as PMR is signed into and will snooze every 15 minutes until the temperatures have been recorded, this will minimise the risk of missing any recordings and ensure Cold Chain Medicines are always stored at appropriate temperatures.
