The pharmacy cannot demonstrate that it stores refrigerated medicines at the correct temperature. And its CD management and date checking procedures are not robust enough.

In April 2020 new thermometers were installed in both medication refrigerators.
Since April 2020 refrigeration temperatures are being checked and recorded each day. These records shall be kept on a rolling three-month basis.

Following the inspection, all stock expiry dates were checked.
From April 2020 stock expiry dates shall be checked every three months. Records of these checks shall be kept. These records shall include the identity of the pharmacy team member who completed these checks and the date they completed them.

From May 2020 the pharmacy has written procedures that state;
CD running balances shall be checked each time a CD is dispensed and separately at least once a month.
CD stock expiry dates shall be checked once each month.
Since May 2020 the pharmacist or registered pharmacy technician have been completing these CD running balance and expiry date checks.
