Hobbs Pharmacy (1090941) - Improvement action plan

Standard not met Reason Action being taken by the Pharmacy By when Notification By Pharmacy Improvements Made
4.3

The pharmacy cannot provide assurance that the temperature of the medical fridge is appropriately monitored and there isn’t a robust date checking procedure for stock. This means the pharmacy cannot always provide assurance that medicines are in a suitable condition to supply. And it does not properly restrict unauthorised access to some higher risk Pharmacy medicines.

Fridge temperature to be recorded daily. The staff has been re-trained. And a reminder alarm has been set on Proscript.

Medicines expiry date to be checked at least quarterly, any medicines expiring in the next 3 months to be disposed of and medicines expiring in the following 3 months (after the first 3 months) to be marked as “short dated”. Records must be kept, and they must be available for inspection.

The high risk P medicines have been moved away to restrict unauthorised access and other products such as paracetamol, antihistamines and Kalms are used as buffer (please see the picture attached)
