| 4.3 | The pharmacy cannot provide assurance that the temperature of the medical fridge is appropriately monitored and there isn’t a robust date checking procedure for stock. This means the pharmacy cannot always provide assurance that medicines are in a suitable condition to supply. And it does not properly restrict unauthorised access to some higher risk Pharmacy medicines. |
Fridge temperature to be recorded daily. The staff has been re-trained. And a reminder alarm has been set on Proscript. Medicines expiry date to be checked at least quarterly, any medicines expiring in the next 3 months to be disposed of and medicines expiring in the following 3 months (after the first 3 months) to be marked as “short dated”. Records must be kept, and they must be available for inspection. The high risk P medicines have been moved away to restrict unauthorised access and other products such as paracetamol, antihistamines and Kalms are used as buffer (please see the picture attached) |
