Market Street Pharmacy (1090665) - Improvement action plan

Standard not met Reason Action being taken by the Pharmacy By when Notification By Pharmacy Improvements Made
4.3

The pharmacy does not store all its medicines as it should, and this creates risks of unauthorised access. This includes some of its higher-risk medicines.

Change of procedure implemented 27/12/23 on receipt of report. All patient returns are to be continued to be checked with CDs segregated. Small quantities to be placed in appropriate yellow bins immediately. Larger bags to be placed in locked cupboard within pharmacy. Each Wednesday and Friday, a
staff member will check locked cupboard and dispose of any stored returns, removing all patient information as per SOP.
All existing CD patient returns were destroyed 6/12/23. Any new returns to be sealed, marked and placed in CD cabinet until destruction. All returns must be dealt with within 2 weeks of receiving date.
Witness to Destruction of CD form saved to desktop on Consultation Room laptop for ease of access. A copy has been completed and sent to CDAO 27/12/23.
