The pharmacy has procedures in place for the services it provides. But it has not undertaken or updated its risk assessment to ensure all risks are suitably managed when it varies how the pharmacy operates, such as the pharmacy's opening hours. This has resulted in some risks being left unmanaged and an incident taking place.

Re-brief all colleagues regarding the securing of the pharmacy outside of trading hours, whilst the retail area is still open to the public.

Outside of pharmacy opening hours, in store music volume to be adjusted and colleagues to be re-briefed about being alert and vigilant around pharmacy area, always ensuring they can hear the alarm if this goes off.

The pharmacy has insufficient safeguards in place to meet this standard which increases the risk of unauthorised access.

Restore both the alarmed Tensator® straps which secures the end of the healthcare counter and pharmacy entrance.

Brief all pharmacy & retail colleagues regarding the securing of the Tensator® straps and blinds on P meds when pharmacy is closed.

Weekly checks to confirm alarmed barriers and blinds are in working order.

Ensure all pharmacy team members know correct process for reporting if alarmed barriers and blinds are found faulty.

Gates ordered to replace the pharmacy and healthcare Tensator® barriers.
