The pharmacy doesn’t accurately record the date of supply of some of its controlled drugs. So, it does not always meet legal requirements for record keeping. And this prevents a reliable audit trail in the event of a query or concern.

The pharmacy has had a review of SOPs and has installed integration between the PMR system and the electronic CDRx. This has been implemented across the group.

At point of handing to patient or driver, the entries are moved from pending to permanent – updating the balances and completing the record. |Allowing for editing fora different person collecting for example.

A stock check is then performed .

There is a manual process for keeping track of pending and complete processes, detailed in the SOP and training has been completed with all staff members on the change to process.
