The pharmacy stores its multi-compartment compliance packs unsealed while awaiting an accuracy check from the pharmacist meaning medicines are exposed to the air and may begin to deteriorate.

The staff and pharmacist have been reminded again of the sop in place for MDS, trays only to be completed if all stock available on the day and after final check sealed on the same day. Cd’s schedule 2 only to be added by the
RP.

The pharmacy does not monitor fridge temperatures for all fridges used and so cannot provide assurance that cold storage items are always stored appropriately. Medicines are not always kept in original manufacturers containers or labelled appropriately.

All temperature control items for dispensing and OTC sales to be kept in the two fridges with temperature control thermometers, sourced from reputable pharmaceutical specialists (denward).
Third fridge kitchen use only.

Measuring equipment used in the dispensary is not always clean and hygienic

RP and staff all well aware that measures and counters to be cleaned after each use and washed at the end of the day and recorded via the cleaning rota sheet.
