1.1 | The pharmacy team do not always have access to the pharmacy's written procedures as copies are not always available in the pharmacy. This means team members and locum pharmacists assuming the role of the responsible pharmacist are unable to refer to the written procedures when on duty. And there are no training records available for inspection to confirm that team members have read and understood these written procedures. |
I have ensured that a digital copy of the pharmacies SOP set is now accessible on all computers within the pharmacy. This allows all team members, including locum pharmacists, to easily refer to the written procedures when on duty. Additionally, this document will have training records that confirm team members have read and understood the SOPs, this is to ensure compliance and accountability. |

4.2 | The pharmacy supplies some medicines in multi-compartment compliance packs to people to help them take their medicines correctly. But these packs do not always contain accurate information about the quantity of medicines inside them. And they do not always contain important safety information such as adverse warnings for the medicines assembled within them. This means there could be confusion about the quantity of medicine the pack contains. And people may not be aware of important information they require to support them in taking their medicines safely. |
We will ensure that all multi-compartment compliance packs supplied by the pharmacy include accurate information about the quantity of medicines contained within them. Additionally, I will implement a system to ensure that all packs are clearly labelled with important safety information, such as adverse warnings for the medicines included. This will involve updating our dispensing process to include a final check for accurate labelling and safety warnings before the packs are supplied to patients. Training will also be provided to team members to reinforce the importance of including accurate and complete information in compliance packs. |
