The pharmacy does not manage all its medicines adequately. It doesn't keep some of its medicines in the original manufacturer's packs and remove date-expired medicines from dispensing stock. Sometimes the pharmacy does not record the fridge temperatures. The pharmacy does not always record the actions taken when it receives a concern about a product.
So it may not be able to show its medicines are safe to use.

Discussion with staff members about keeping
medicines in the original manufacturing pack
containers. Awareness of batch numbers and
short-dated stock is now recorded at the back
of the diary.
Date checking matrix is being implemented
and sections of the dispensary allocated to
various members of staff to date check.
A new SOP for fridge temperatures is now in
place and all members have read and signed.
A new fridge recording sheet is now being
completed on a daily basis.
Drug recall log is now being completed to
show any drug alerts or recalls. This is dated
and classified according to class 1,2,3 and
action taken by the Healthcare professional
as specified on the MHRA website.
