Pharmacy context

The pharmacy is in a residential area just outside Middlesbrough town centre. Its main activity is dispensing NHS prescriptions, some of which it delivers to people's homes. It also sells medicines over the counter and supplies medicines in multi-compartment compliance packs to some people who need this support to help them take their medicines at the right time. It provides a substance misuse service for some people. Enforcement action has been taken against this pharmacy, which remains in force at the time of this inspection, and there are restrictions on the provision of some services. The enforcement action taken allows the pharmacy to continue providing other services, which are not affected by the restrictions imposed. This was a reinspection following an inspection in September 2025 where the pharmacy did not meet Standards 1.1, 4.2 and 4.3. This reinspection focused on those Standards which had previously not been met. Following the last inspection, the pharmacy has implemented some updated written procedures to address gaps and pharmacy team members have signed to confirm they have read them. The team are working according to procedures to safely provide services relating to multi-compartment compliance packs and higher risk medicines. The pharmacy has improved how it manages its medicines, to ensure they remain in date and fit for purpose.
