Pharmacy context
This community pharmacy is located on a high street in Hendon, London. It dispenses NHS and private prescriptions, and it sells medicines over the counter. The pharmacy provides some NHS services such as the new medicines service and seasonal flu vaccinations. And it delivers prescriptions to some people who cannot get to the pharmacy.
This was a reinspection following an inspection in February 2025 where the pharmacy did not meet Standards 1.1, 1.2, 1.7, 3.1, 3.2 and 4.3. This reinspection focused on those Standards which had previously not been met. Since the last inspection, the pharmacy had implemented a new set of standard operating procedures (SOPs) which have been read and signed by team members. And these were available in the pharmacy for team members to refer to, to help them work safely. The pharmacy had records of near misses (mistakes spotted and rectified during the dispensing process) and it could show the actions it was taking to try and prevent similar mistakes from happening again. It was also now managing people’s confidential information appropriately. The pharmacy was less cluttered during the reinspection and, although some areas need updating, the premises were kept clean. And the consultation room was in a suitable condition for providing pharmacy services. The pharmacy was now storing medicines appropriately. Medicines requiring cold-storage were stored at the required temperatures and the pharmacy had implemented a date-checking process to ensure medicines they provided were suitable for use. Drug safety alerts and recalls were received by the pharmacy and records kept of any actions taken.
