HMP Rye Hill (9011957)

Inspection outcome: Standards met

Last inspection: 30/04/2025

Since January 2025 our inspection reports are more concise and accessible - find out more about the changes

Pharmacy context

The pharmacy is inside HMP Rye Hill. It is registered to be able to provide individually labelled medicines and stock to the prison wings for people to take as supervised doses or to take away in their possession. And pharmacy team members provide advice to people about their medicines and health. The pharmacy is not open to the public.

This was a desktop inspection following an inspection in September 2024 where the pharmacy did not meet Standard 1.1. This reinspection focused on those Standards which had previously not been met. Since the last inspection, the pharmacy has provided team members with information clarifying the activities that can and cannot be undertaken when the responsible pharmacist is absent. And it has updated the relevant standard operating procedure to ensure the information is embedded into their practices.
