Pharmacy context
The pharmacy is located within Sunderland Royal Hospital and operated by City Hospitals Independent Commercial Enterprises Limited (CHOICE). CHOICE is a wholly owned subsidiary of South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust. The pharmacy’s main activity is dispensing prescriptions to hospital outpatients. It also sells a range of over-the-counter medicines and dispenses some private prescriptions.
This was the first routine inspection of the pharmacy since it relocated from nearby premises in August 2023.
