Pharmacy context

A Boots pharmacy located in a shopping centre and serving a mixed local population with a large Turkish community.

The pharmacy dispenses approximately 16,000 items per month and, as well as the NHS Essential Service, provides medicine use reviews (MURs), new medicine service (NMS), needle exchange, prescription collection and delivery, substance misuse (20-25 patients), minor ailment scheme and emergency hormonal contraception (EHC) via a patient group direction (PGD).

The pharmacy also provides monitored dosage system (MDS) trays for 80 domiciliary patients and blister packs to over 140 care homes; these were a mixture of nursing and residential homes ranging in size from 5 to 62 bed.

The opening times are Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm, Saturday 8am to 6pm and Sunday 10am to 4pm.
