Pharmacy context
This is a well-established community pharmacy situated in a shopping centre in North Shields serving a mixed population in an area of high unemployment. The opening hours are Monday to Friday 8.30am – 6pm and Saturday 8.30am – 5.30pm. Approximately 28,000 items are dispensed per month. Repeats and collections account for around 30% of these. ETP is running at around 50%. The store pharmacist was unsure of how many DDS and Nursing home patients they had. A delivery service is offered. The range of services includes Medicines Use Reviews (MURs), New Medicines Service (NMS) and emergency hormonal contraception (EHC), smoking cessation and pharmacy first.
