Dukes Pharmacy (9012759) - Improvement action plan

The pharmacy checks and records its fridge temperatures, but it does not do this daily. This could make it harder for the pharmacy to show that it is storing its medicines requiring cold storage correctly. The maximum fridge temperatures for both fridges during the inspection were outside the required range. And the current temperature of one of the fridges was also out of the required range. The thermometer was replaced following the inspection and the pharmacy provided evidence that the temperatures were then within the appropriate range.

I have spoken to both pharmacists who work @ Dukes Pharmacy and explained the mandatory requirement and importance of recording fridge temperatures each day. I have told them that is their responsibility to ensure it is recorded. Also making sure that the temperatures are within range. I have also told the main dispenser the importance of recording this information too. Both fridges’ thermometers were replaced. Both fridge temperatures are within the range. I have trained all dispensary staff how to check & record the fridge temperatures.
