Allied Pharmacy Skelton Lane (9011998) - Improvement action plan

The pharmacy cannot demonstrate that it stores its medicines requiring cold storage appropriately. This increases the risk of people being supplied medicines that are not fit for purpose. This was highlighted at the last inspection and the pharmacy has not maintained the required improvement in this area.

• Two members of staff to be appointed as Cold Chain Managers.
• Pharmacy staff to revisit Cold Chain Medicines SOP.
• Training to be conducted on using fridge temperature log function on Proscript.
• Ensure all pharmacy staff are aware how to escalate concerns if fridge temperature is out of range.
• Fridge temperature to be checked at a minimum of once every trading day.
• Set fridge thermometers to alarm at appropriate boundaries (2ºC and 8ºC).
• Cold Chain Managers to review and report on temperature records monthly.
• The Regional Manager to check whether fridge temperature is being checked and recorded during pharmacy visits.
