HMP Rye Hill (9011957) - Improvement action plan

Standard not met Reason Action being taken by the Pharmacy By when Notification By Pharmacy Improvements Made
1.1

The pharmacy does not identify and manage all of the risks associated with its services. It has not fully considered what activity can be carried out when the pharmacy does not have a responsible pharmacist.

PPG use a ‘Purple Alert’ cascade to highlight incidents and learning to all the teams after any significant events or feedback. A purple alert has been drafted and circulated to all teams to highlight the stance of the Responsible Pharmacist regulations and to ensure only appropriate activities take place when there is no Responsible pharmacist is on site.
The governance team have co-ordinated replies from all teams acknowledging the alert and that it has been noted and actioned.
The suite of RP SOPs have been reviewed and RP SOP 01 has been amended to ensure complete clarity in the operations that can and cannot be complete in the absence of an RP
The SI has discussed in a number of forums the details of the above with the team of regional pharmacists and pharmacy technicians for there support in ensuring only appropriate activities are taking place.
The regional teams will support the compliance with this going forward.
Spot checks of the Responsible Pharmacist log will be completed as part of routine internal inspections going forward.
