Clarke's Chemist Dalmarnock (9010157) - Improvement action plan

Standard not met Reason Action being taken by the Pharmacy By when Notification By Pharmacy Improvements Made
1.1

The pharmacy has written procedures for some of the services that team members provide. The written procedures are overdue review and do not always reflect current working practices. And documented procedures for certain services such as providing medicines in multi-compartment compliance packs, NHS Pharmacy First service and NHS Pharmacy First Plus service are missing. This means team members may not be following consistent processes to ensure services are provided safely.

As the superintendent, I am currently reviewing all of the current standard operating procedures (SOP’s). I am also producing SOP’s for
- NHS Pharmacy First
- NHS Pharmacy First Plus
- Dispensing in Compliance Aids
I will send these to the Pharmacy Manager who will then also review these and make any changes where relevant. These will then be reviewed again by myself and passed onto manager for all staff members to sign the SOP’s relevant to their job role.

2.2

The pharmacy does not always enroll its team members on the appropriate accredited training within the necessary timescales to ensure they have the right qualifications and skills for their roles and the services they provide.

I have now enrolled the temporary delivery driver onto the NPA training course “Delivering Medicines Safely & Effectively” .

The Pharmacy manager will be the training supervisor, with the course expected to be completed within 3 months.
