Review staffing levels and skill mix. Create staffing rota and change staffing hours where necessary. Assess competency of individual staff members and agree training and development plans. Begin the recruitment process for two full-time and one part-time pharmacy assistants to help with workload.

The dispensary is not always safe as the floor is used to store large quantities of bulky items that constitute significant trip hazards.

Clear floor so that it is free from trip hazards. Allocate a member of staff to empty boxes of prescriptions received from the hub pharmacy so that these are not left on the floor.

Baskets containing dispensed medicines are often stored in unstable piles and there is a risk that transposition of medicines might occur.

Review storage of prescriptions waiting a final accuracy check. Accuracy checking technician to check completed prescriptions where appropriate to support the pharmacist.
