The pharmacy does not appropriately store, secure and manage all of its medicines as it should. This includes how it stores its medicines requiring cold storage. And the process team members follow to ensure the medicines they supply to people are within their expiry date is not robust.

1. High-risk medicines to be appropriately secured
2. The supervised methadone patients
medication is securely stored in its
own CD cabinet
3. The fridge temperatures to be
checked and be adjusted within the range, and the staff have been
informed to report any issues with the
fridge temperature
4. Implement a rota system
which is carried out every 3 months to
check stock for
a. expired medication
b. splits (batch number and
expiry)
c. short dated medications
marked with stickers for
identification
5. All staff have been trained to follow
these procedures.
