Cohens Direct (Treat Discreet) (1103343) - Improvement action plan

Standard not met Reason Action being taken by the Pharmacy By when Notification By Pharmacy Improvements Made
1.2

The pharmacy has not completed an audit of its prescribing services. This makes it difficult to demonstrate that its written processes are followed and continue to be effective. And it cannot show the controls to reduce risk are sufficiently robust to protect people who use the pharmacy’s services.

•Continue with established process of evaluating prescribing services regularly to be reactive to required updates in between planned audits
•Conduct a full structured audit of prescribing services and continue to do so every 6 months

1.1

The pharmacy provides services at a distance, such as treatments for weight loss and asthma. It has considered some of the risks associated with the service, such as verifying people’s health information using NHS records. But it has not identified all of the risks or maintained a full risk assessment for the service or for each medicine supplied. So, the pharmacy may not be able demonstrate how it mitigates the risks in order to provide this service in a safe manner.

•Review and update current risk assessments in place for weight loss to ensure they are as robust as possible
•Replace current risk assessment in place which covers prescribing for all other conditions with individual risk assessments for each condition
