Well (1090377) - Improvement action plan

The pharmacy does not store all its waste medicines and medical devices in a way that prevents unauthorised access. This includes some higher risk medicines.

Remove all Patients Returned Medication and waste medication from the toilets immediately.

Contact Facilities Team to arrange an urgent uplift of all current Patients Returned Medication.

Create an interim appropriate storage location in the dispensary to store the doop bins.

Consult with Facilities Team to increase storage capacity in the pharmacy. Consider to create a dedicated secure storage area for empty storage totes to create more capacity in the dispensary.

Limit the number of doop bins are stored in the pharmacy. Signpost patients and arrange adhoc collections when necessary.

Ensure the pharmacy team are aware of the following process:

- How to contact NHS local teams and Well Facilities Team to arrange adhoc collection when necessary.
- How to arrange NHS Local Teams to arrange more regular waste collection.
