Marijak Ltd (1087822) - Improvement action plan

Standard not met Reason Action being taken by the Pharmacy By when Notification By Pharmacy Improvements Made
2.2

The pharmacy does not ensure that staff involved in the dispensing process do the right training for their role.

The medicines counter assistant was previously enrolled on a medicine counter and dispensing course
by Morrison's. I have enrolled her again for this course. Evidence is enclosed.

The pharmacy cannot show that it regularly date checks its stock. The pharmacy has a date-checking matrix but the last entry made was in April 2023 and two out-of-date medicines were found in stock. This could increase the chance of an expired medicine being dispensed.

We have now a pharmacy date-checking
matrix in place. I enclosed a copy. I also enclose SOP for date-checking which we
endeavour to follow.

The pharmacy cannot demonstrate that it stores medicines requiring cold storage appropriately. Minimum and maximum temperature readings seen during the inspection were outside the required range. And the pharmacy does not record fridge temperatures daily. So, this makes it more difficult for the pharmacy to show that the medicines inside are safe to use.

I have been recording the minimum and maximum temperature from 13/06/2025 and they are within the required range. I enclose the copy of chart. I have a new fridge
thermometer, and the readings are almost the same as the old one. I enclose the photos of thermometers. I also enclose a SOP which we will endeavour to follow.
