2.1 | At times the pharmacy does not have enough staff to be able to provide its services safely and effectively. |
Regional Leader and branch manager have reviewed the branch rota to ensure the number of colleagues and skill mix is appropriate for each trading day. There is now a short-term staffing support plan in place to ensure full complement of staff. A trained dispenser who has previously worked for Rowlands will shortly be joining the team and the branch will also be supported by a relief trainee NVQ3 to ensure staffing levels remain adequate. We have also made an offer to an applicant for a full time position of 37.5 hours which has recently been accepted. |

4.3 | Expiry date checks are not carried out regularly for all stock. And some stock medicines have been removed from their original containers and are not labelled with batch numbers or expiry dates. This increases the possibility of supplying a medicine that is not safe or fit for purpose. |
The pharmacist manager and 4 members of staff came into the branch on Sunday the 10th November to complete expiry date checking. A date checking matrix is now in place and there is a plan to ensure this will be maintained moving forward and all medicines will be date checked on a rolling cycle. The Regional Leader will monitor on-going compliance. |
