The pharmacy does not have enough staff to undertake all tasks and deliver services safely.

Staff levels and staff scheduling to be reviewed to ensure that colleagues are in the right place at the right time to manage the workload effectively. (All vacancies now filled and store above budgeted hours. They have ACT support for 2 days a week, 1 day a week Relief Dispenser cover and 1 day a week Cluster Manager support. They also have a second pharmacist on Friday for 6 hours to cover busy period. This is extra to the store hours).

Induction process and training plan for new colleagues to be reviewed and implemented

The pharmacy does not always manage medicines well due to untidy drawers, untidy fridges and team members do not always use clean equipment when handling medicines.

Pharmacy medicines storage drawers to be re-organised alphabetically with new identifying labels to be applied to each drawer. Medicines to be separated by strength and form. Caution stickers to be applied where appropriate to reduce risk.

Dispensary fridges to be reorganised ensuring all high risk insulin items are clearly separated and all packaging is facing one uniform direction.

Staff members to be coached on the importance of appropriate storage of medicines and how to handle pharmacy medicine stock deliveries.

Staff members to be trained on the importance of using tablet and capsule counters when dispensing from stock bottles.
