2.2

Not all team members are enrolled on, or have completed qualification training appropriate to their role. And these team members perform duties that they are not appropriately qualified or trained for. Team members are not always provided with additional ongoing training to help keep their skills and knowledge up to date.

F is now enrolled on a course at Edinburgh College Sighthill Campus: Pharmacy Studies: An Introduction. This course is starting on 19th Jan 2026. F may still volunteer some hours at Dalry Rd, but this will be to support her course.
LB will be starting the ACD course in the coming months.
SR is concentrating on completing his HCA course (expected to complete by end of Feb 2026)
WY will be doing online counter courses. We are a Numark member and will be using their new online training platform (scheduled to launch 02nd Feb 2026)

The pharmacy premises are generally clean. But non-public facing areas of the pharmacy where medicines are stored and where multi-compartment compliance packs are dispensed are untidy with clutter on the floor. And staff facilities are unclean which may pose a hazard to team members.

Deep clean of non public-facing areas to be arranged.

4.3

The pharmacy does not have an effective procedure to check expiry dates of medicines. And there are out-of-date medicines on the shelves. So, this means there is a risk people may receive medicines which are not fit to supply.

Date checking procedure has been restarted.
Staff have all been issued with date checking
Sheets for their relevant stock area. These are now checked (visually) by Pharmacist each Monday. On last calendar Monday of each month, these will be scanned into one file to
Record that month date checking. The records will be stored and accessible. The sheets will then be returned to each staff member (or new sheet issued if required) and the process continue

The pharmacy does not store and manage all of its medicines as it should, including higher risk medicines requiring safe custody. So there is a risk of unauthorised access.

New CD cabinet has been installed downstairs
to increase storage capacity. Now in full operation.
