Dev's Chemist (1040087) - Improvement action plan

Standard not met Reason Action being taken by the Pharmacy By when Notification By Pharmacy Improvements Made
1.1

The pharmacy does not always keep appropriate consultation notes about its prescribing service. And although it has a risk assessment, there is evidence that it does not follow it. Taken together, these increase the risks of the service.

The Pharmacy has since the inspection, purchased a software which will enable our Pharmacy’s IP to take a comprehensive patient’s notes, patient biodata, and all the necessary red flags will also be highlighted and documented.
The software is called Halaxy and it covers from case notes, clinical tools to referrals, prescriptions, and clinical dashboards, it’s a better tool that will help our Pharmacy IP to better manage his patient’s progress.

It will also help run my entire practice from my calendar. Ideal for sole, group and multidisciplinary practices.
Our pharmacy’s IP risk assessment protocols have been amended since the last one we earlier submitted at the inspector’s request and a newer version will be sent to the inspector when submitting this action plan.
I can confidently say that issues with these new and improved action taken and implemented by our IP in conjunction with the pharmacy owners, there will be no risk to the service.
Furthermore, because this software is password protected, patient data, confidentiality and all the necessary safeguarding protocols will be securely kept

1.6

The pharmacy’s consultation notes for its prescribing service do not always have the necessary information recorded.

The new prescribing software purchased by the pharmacy for our IP’s private consultation service will help iron out all these shortfalls by the inspector and it will enhance patient safety and promote our safeguarding protocol and ultimately help to reduce potential risk to patients.

4.3

The pharmacy does not have robust systems in place to always store its medicines securely and in accordance with legislation.

The only storage issue we had at time of of inspector’s visit was that our CD cabinet was not bigger enough to accommodate most of our expired CD’s.
The pharmacy is now planning to buy a new and a bigger CD cabinet to support our existing one so that we can increase our storage capacity
