4.2 | The pharmacy doesn’t have suitable processes to manage the way it dispenses medicines into multi-compartment compliance packs. So, there is an increased risk of error. The pharmacy keeps records of deliveries it makes to people. But it doesn't always get signatures from people receiving their medicines. So, it doesn’t have a robust audit trail and cannot always evidence the safe delivery of people’s medicines. |
The pharmacy has changed the MDS system from Nomad to Blister packaging. This will hopefully mimimise the risks of errors. This is now Being implemented . The team dispensing the MDS have been told to keep the packaging to one side for the pharmacist to check. The delivery driver now has been instructed to have all deliveries signed for by the recipient.Any that has been posted through the letterbox will be signed by the driver on behalf of the recipient, and will be made a follow up telephone call to confirm that they have received the items. |
