The pharmacy does not have effective processes to ensure out-of-date medicines are removed from stock. And it does not identify and manage the risks of storing some medicines which it removes from their manufacturer's original packaging before dispensing them. So, it cannot be sure these remain safe to supply to people. Additionally, the pharmacy does not monitor its storage capacity for higher-risk medicines to ensure they are stored safely.

Extra secure unit has been fitted to manage capacity required for storing high-risk medicines.

We stock all the medicines in date and expiry order so that shorter dated stock is stored in front of the longer expiry packages, following effective stock rotation processes.

When dispensing medicines expiry date batch and number are checked before attaching a label and signing the box.

All medicines are kept in their original packaging. Pharmacist discourages transfer of medicines from original packaging to bulk pots. When bulk port may be beneficial, these are ordered from licensed manufacturers.

In the upstairs dispensary stock levels have been adjusted to support good stock management processes.

Staff carry out date checking first day of every quarter. Each month, products that have one month’s shelf life are taken off the shelves and recorded and entered onto the out-of-date sheet and then stored in the Date Checking File
