The pharmacy does not always keep accurate records of its higher risk medicines. Balance checks are not always completed in a timely manner which means it cannot effectively identify discrepancies in a timely manner. Members of the team do not maintain fridge temperature records. So they may not be able to demonstrate medicines that require refrigeration are stored at the correct temperatures.

Pharmacy to implement weekly audits of higher risk medicines and to report any discrepancies immediately to Head Office. Senior pharmacist, Sanjay Nath, has enabled the pharmacy’s pro-script fridge temperature checking programme. This will be monitored by all staff

The pharmacy does not always adequately keep passwords safe and NHS smartcards are shared between team members. It has a set of information governance procedures available, but these have not been signed by its team members. So, they may not understand the correct way to protect confidential information.

Pharmacy team will present Head Office with all the details required to set up pharmoutcomes personal accounts. Staff members will also be presented with an updated information governance procedure for them to read and sign. All staff who do not present with a smartcard will be taken through the process of acquiring once.
