Pharmacy context
This community pharmacy is situated on the junction of a major crossroad in South Shore, Blackpool. The pharmacy dispenses NHS prescriptions, private prescriptions and sells over-the-counter medicines. It also provides a range of services including the NHS Pharmacy First service. The pharmacy supplies some people with medicines in multi-compartment compliance packs to help them take their medicines at the right time. This was a desktop reinspection following an inspection in July 2026 where the pharmacy did not meet Standards 1.2, 1.6, 4.3, 5.2. This reinspection focused on those Standards which had previously not been met. The pharmacy has reintroduced the use of its near miss recording system and the team now undertakes monthly reviews to identify trends and share learning. Record keeping has improved, and the required information is now being documented so that it can be referred to if any queries or concerns arise. The pharmacy team has completed a full check of dispensary stock and removed out-of-date medicines. And records are maintained to demonstrate that date-checking activity is being carried out. The pharmacy has also purchased new measuring cylinders, enabling liquids to be measured accurately and supporting safe dispensing practice.
